When we immigrated from South Africa, I felt that my art business was stagnating. I was suffering from creator's block while we were struggled to find our footing in a new country with a different culture.
While it has not been easy, we are still incredibly grateful to be here and to be exposed to experiencing new adventures, making new and rekindling old friendships, and enjoying what the United Kingdom has to offer us, and our brave chihuahua - Narnia.
Eight months ago our Birdwatcher's Colouring Field Guide Volume 1 was endorsed by BirdLife South Africa - a non-profit aimed at raising awareness and educating the public on bird conservation. This was an exciting development for our business and an honour to receive their badge of approval for our colouring field guide!
During the next few months I managed to finalise Volume 2 in the series and it was - again - endorsed by BirdLife South Africa!
Because of their support, my books have the attention of South African birdwatchers, tour guides, national parks, and boutique stores.
I wanted to shake things up and create a fresh new look for us and our business. Looking back at our brand name and logo for "Myska's Creations", no one had a clue on what we were trying to sell or what the purpose of the business was.
I had no clue either!
So, last month we made the decision to shake up our art business "Myska's Creations" and give it a new direction and a fresh look - to be in line with our purpose and direction for the business.
Our vision is to become a leading brand in children's literature and interactive media that educates and entertains, making a positive impact on young minds about conservation and the environment.
We have been busy with a number of different projects since and I will be documenting all of these projects either as vlogs on my YouTube channel - @MyskaCreates - or in our newspaper posts.
